The oldest of chairs
The shape of the chair was motivated by some objects of nature (if you look around, you get to see a lot of natural «chairs»), and the needs of the human body: not only to sit down and relax the back. It is clear that such comfort in antiquity was not available to all. Therefore, the ancient chairs, the thrones of the monarchs of the ancient world. Even their companions were forced to stand or sit, but on a much less convenient small shops. Ordinary people sitting or on the floor, using as the back wall of his home.
In the middle ages public the tip improved the comfort of the chairs. They started to do with the trim (sometimes very expensive materials) or sewing special pads to sit was softer. This tradition has been preserved to this day. Sitting on the velvet upholstery, and even an embroidered pillow, you can feel like a king or a classy lady.
The vagaries of fashion and demanded appropriate changes in the design of the chairs. Ladies lush crinolines could not sit on chairs with backs – they need stools. Gentlemen in evening dress, too, objected to the backs – the tails looked izgibanii. The result was even special chairs «backwards» — with the backs on the front. If I didn’t have a similar design, dandies did just sit on a regular chair, but «backwards». Still a lot of men, though they are not wearing coats, have kept the habit to sit on a chair facing the backrest.
