The history of tennis. Tennis and table tennis
History of tennisofficially starts from second half of XIX century. At his estate in Yasnaya Polyana, he built a tennis court and became one of the founders of the first tennis club. Big fan of the game was Tsar Nicholas II, who actively introduced it into the society.
The exact place and time of origin of the game is not known. In different countries there were many games resembling table tennis, which of them was the ancestor of the current tennis, it is hard to say. It is known that in the late 19th century table tennis was already popular in England, where it was called «ping-pong», apparently by analogy with the thud of the ball on the table. Under the Amateur game was altered and the usual kitchen desks, instead of a grid used the material at hand. Rackets were made of pressed cardboard, wood, and the balls were rubber or cork.
