So you’re thinking about becoming a photographer? Maybe this is your dream or maybe you think to experience a new hobby? Whatever the reason of your interest, what you can do now to learn to make great photos?
Pay attention to the world around you. You see things around you and think how to make the perfect shot? Did you notice interesting details that make you pull out the camera and photograph what you see? If not, then it’s time to pay attention to these things. Look around and see the world through the eyes of a photographer, try to see things from the point of view of «How can I make this an amazing photograph?»
Find the camera!
This may seem obvious, but you really can’t take photos without a camera. This should not be new, fancy, expensive thing. Absolutely not! Especially when you are just learning. The most important thing is that you have a camera. It should not be something extraordinary – even your phone camera will be good enough until you just start taking pictures. Later, you can move on to something more serious.
Look at photos of other photographers
Looking through the works of great photographers you can learn a lot and get inspired. Spend some time just looking through the pictures, and think about what you like about them. The more you see other good photos, the more you will begin to notice what is happening around you.
Analyze photographs from the collections of the winners of various competitions. Pay attention to frame your shot (composition), color palette and setting of light. Based on them, try to do your pictures like these. Make photos that you think is the best photo collage with your hands and place it in a prominent place. So, you will be able to look at them and be inspired by ideas.
The more information you get about photography, the more confident I feel. Nowadays, there are many resources for learning the rules and techniques of photography: book, online articles, video tutorials, seminars and a variety of different courses.
Practice, practice, practice!
No one will ever be able to take good photos without training. One of the best things that you can do is to go to photograph. Another 15 minutes? Grab your camera and go take pictures. Walking on the street, and take a few photos of things I think are interesting. Not looking for anything fantastic – just go outside and take pictures!
Don’t wait for professional photos immediately. Like all good things in life, photography takes practice. But you can do it. All you need to do is start!
