Motorcycle of the future
Dudes from California state University in San Jose are developing an electric motorcycle capable of moving in any direction. Balancing on spheres, motorcycle Spherical Drive System (SDS) maintains balance through MEMS gyro sensor and an accelerometer. The idea of this bike was inspired by the Rezero Ball Bot robot created by experts from Japan.
Management of the SDS motorcycle is normal. Additionally it will be equipped with a joystick which will allow rotation, movement in hand and other maneuvers. The experimental prototype can move at the speed of 16 km/h, but the developers say that the theoretical maximum speed that can develop such motorcycles can reach up to 100 km/h.
