KHL has determined the criteria for foreign bro from the NHL in case of lockout

KHL has determined the criteria that will be applied to foreign NHL players, planning to play in Russian clubs in the event of a lockout, reports the official website of the Continental League.


Note that the KHL clubs will be able to enter into contracts for not more than three bro with NHL of any nationality. The Russian KHL clubs will be able to enter into contracts for not more than one Legionnaire. Legionaries from NHL, enter into an agreement with the Russian clubs will have to meet one of the following criteria:

  • conduct at least 150 matches in the Championships of the NHL in the last three seasons;
  • to have experience of playing in the KHL;
  • to be a member of the national team of his country on one of the last two world Championships, world youth Championships or the Olympic games;
  • to be a winner or finalist of the Cup Stanley winner or one of the individual prizes awarded in the National hockey League season.

The above criteria for NHL players-foreign players joining foreign teams, do not apply.

Note that clubs will be able to say players in the NHL in excess of the bid limit of 25 players.

Thus, during the NHL lockout, the total number of foreign dudes in the application of Russian KHL club may be six people, including one goalkeeper-the legionary.

The application for a separate championship match of the KHL club can have a maximum of five players, with the status of «foreign player».
