In the thickness of the bottom of the Pacific ocean discovered new life forms
In the framework of the international research program for the study of the ocean depths, scientists have drilled the bottom of the Pacific ocean off the coast of Japan is almost three kilometers and found an amazing discovery. In the well the researchers found the simplest form of life – microscopic, single-celled organisms with a very slow metabolism, which can survive in such extreme conditions, because the formation under study there is no light, oxygen, nutrients, and almost no water.
During the experiments it turned out that these microbes eat methyl compounds, and the slow metabolism allows you to save the resulting crumbs of energy for a very long time. How there life began is not yet known, but it certainly gives hope that other, even more severe conditions, for example, in space, can be found life.
