Everyone needs somewhere to start, so Karl RAPP, Creator of the BMW, which needs to kiss the feet of all cattle, clear patsanchiki and normal drivers can just say «thank you», we decided to do aviation engines. In fact, the district of Munich, in which the plant was built, was chosen for a reason, but because it was next to the aviation plant Flugmaschinenfabrik. And the logo of the brand represents not that other, as the propeller against the blue blue sky. One of the main achievements of the last aircraft engine IIIa for one of the best aircraft of that time Fokker D. VII. The plane was so good that at the end of world one of the requirements was to destroy it completely. By the way, the BMW engine was a record, when the pilot climbed to an altitude of 9760 meters on an airplane with engine BMW.

But the Treaty of Versailles banned Germany to produce the aircraft, and therefore Bayerische Flugzeug-Werke was renamed the Bayerische Motoren Werke and started modern history.

But after buying the rights in the mid 50-ies, engineers have improved all the mechanical parts of the car, creating one of the most popular of the post-war micro cars.
