Saxifrage care at home
Saxifrage is a herbaceous perennial of the family saxifragaceae.
It lives in subtropical areas of Japan and China.
A distinctive feature of the plants – red stems-whiskers, which grow small rosettes of leaves.
These whiskers are called stolons.
Leaves up to 6 cm in diameter, round, hairy, serrated at the edges, the underside of the dark red. They are extremely decorative, thanks to a reddish fringe on the edges and light stripes along the veins.
The tri-color variety K. less common. Her leaves are green, with white-red stripe on the edge. This species is more demanding and has smaller size.
Blooms in summer, small white flowers, gathered in panicle — raceme on long peduncle. Looks beautiful in hanging pots.
Location and lighting
Grows well in bright diffused light and partial shade. In the dark leaf pattern becomes sluggish.
Fit window sill any orientation, the main thing – to protect the plant from direct sunlight.
Saxifrage likes moderate temperatures to + 20C. Hot summer brings good idea if morning or evening when the heat subsides, spray the leaves. In winter, the plant is better to keep at + 10C, for example, on the glazed balcony.
Watering and humidity
Requires moderate watering. In the winter months at low temperature it is necessary to irrigate less frequently. Daily spraying of the leaves is not required.

Transplantation and propagation
