Dracaena (dragon tree) — care at home
Is one of the brightest representatives of the family drazenovich.

It is a slender, evergreen houseplant with woody leafless stem and a bundle of beautiful leaf on top.
Often confused with a palm tree, so called «false palm», although nothing to do with this.

Also characteristic of this species is, in case of damage of the barrel – release «dragon’s blood» — a resinous juice, which is at first colorless, then air turns blood red.
Location and lighting
The plant is not whimsical care, therefore, can be placed in the office and in the apartment and on the balcony, but the ideal would be to place in the fresh air without drafts.
He needs bright, but not necessarily diffused light or partial shade, but if placed in the shade may lose decorative.
Summer optimum temperature +18 to +25 degrees, in winter, holds up to 12 degrees, possibly lower, but not a long period.
Watering and humidity
Watering should be all year, in the spring and summer about 2 times a week, in winter once in 5-6 days. Once a month doing this procedure – the lower the pot into the water and waiting when you get out the bubbles, then the water flows down, and resume watering after only a week.

Transplantation and propagation
Replanting is carried out once a year with a rapid growth and every 2 years, in normal, in the spring.
Propagate a dracaena from cuttings, seeds or parts of the stem. The seeds are planted in March, maintaining the temperature of 27 degrees, next came the plants are transplanted into pots at temperatures below 21 degrees.
You can cut the top part of the plant or aerial cuttings from the tops and root them in a mixture of peat and sand, following the bottom heat.
