Svetlana Alexievich : the biography
Svetlana Alexievich was born in the Ukrainian city of Ivano-Frankivsk (Stanislav) may 31, 1948. Family Aleksievich international. The father was born in Belarus, mother in Ukraine. Svetlana Alekseevich says that each book went from 4 to 7 years of her life. At the time of writing she met and talked with hundreds of people, witnesses of the events described in his works. These people usually had behind him a very difficult fate: they went through Stalin’s camps, the revolution, fought in various wars or survived the Chernobyl disaster.
