Irina Skobtseva: biography
Irina Skobtseva was born in Tula, in a completely non-musical family. Father Konstantin Alekseevich was the scientific employee of the Main Department of the weather service. Mother Julia N. held the position of archivist.
In adolescence Irina knew all the hardships of war, so the program of the senior classes took place almost independently. Of course, in such a difficult time she could not think of becoming an actress, so, having matriculation, decided to go the way of science and entered the Moscow state University the history Department, where he specialised in art history.
Already as a student of Irina Skobtseva discovers the world of theatre, plays in all student performances, participating in talent contests. This new world has so captured the girl, right after graduating from MSU she entered the School-Studio named after Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow art Theater, where he studied until 1955.
After graduating from drama school was playing in the Theater-Studio of film actor. Since 1971 began to teach at VGIK acting. After 6 years became a Professor.
In 1965 Skobtseva was awarded the title of Honored artist of the RSFSR in 1974, she became a popular actress, and in 1997 received the order of Friendship for his merits in front of Russia.
Debut on the big screen was when Irina Skobtseva was in my last year of Moscow art theatre. Director Sergei Yutkevich has selected her among a few hundred candidates for the lead female role of Desdemona in the film adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy «Othello». This role has brought her not only in the USSR but also worldwide fame. At the Cannes film festival, the actress won the title of «Miss charm of the Cannes film festival.»
After this incredible success Irina Skobtseva played in more than 70 films. It was mostly character roles in very big movies. She starred in the biographical picture about the Ukrainian writer «Ivan Franko», Comedy, «the common man», melodrama «Serge», science fiction «the Court of crazy», the Comedy «the Zigzag of success», detective, «fifty-Fifty», war drama, «People in mufti», the drama «once lied…», the melodrama «the ghosts of the green room.»
She also played supporting roles in such famous films as the epic «War and peace», the romantic drama «White nights,» lyrical Comedy «I step through Moscow,» social Comedy «Thirty three», war drama «They fought for the Motherland», the drama «the gadfly», a musical tale of «Mary Poppins, goodbye!», joint Russian-Italian-British film adaptation of «the Quiet don».
In the new Millennium no longer young actress chose not to rest on our laurels. She has participated in many films and TV series, most famous dystopia «the Inhabited island», a historical drama «the White guard», the adventure drama «Gold,» a psychological drama «Amber wings» and the romance «Family dinner».

While studying at MSU, Irina Skobtseva met with a journalism student Alex Ecobeam that this University has received a theatrical education. In 1945 they were married and lived together for 4 years. In 1949 Adzhubei filed for divorce because he met with the Rada Khrushcheva, the daughter of the future Secretary-General.
In 1955 on the set of the tragedy of «Othello,» Irina arises an affair with her partner on the film by Sergei Bondarchuk. The relationship was complicated by the fact that Bondarchuk was married to actress Inna Makarova. Only 4 years Irina and Sergei were able to become husband and wife and lived together for 35 years, until the death of the famous actor and Director. In this marriage they had a daughter Helen, and later stage actress died from cancer in 2009, and son Fyodor, who became a famous actor and film Director.
Irina Skobtseva has grandchildren Konstantin Kryukov, Barbara and Sergei Bondarchuk, as well as great-granddaughters Julia, Margaret and Faith.
Irina Konstantinovna collects memoirs and other books about movies, the theater, the actors and the acting profession.
