Gennady Golovkin: a biography
Gennady Golovkin GGG (Triple G) – a prominent Kazakh boxer, winner of many titles and awards, spent about 40 battles, and each of them ended with a victory.
A future champion was born in Kazakhstan, Karaganda, April 8, 1982. Mother Genes – an ethnic Korean, father is Russian, but the Gennady considers himself as a Kazakh. The boy’s father worked in the mine, my mother worked as an assistant in the chemical laboratory. The family lived in Maikuduk, which in those days was considered the most criminal district of the city.
The Genes had three brothers: his twin brother Maxim (today he is an honored Boxing coach) and two older brothers, Vadim and Sergey. The older brothers died, according to rumors, it occurred in the course of their military service. The boy came to the Studio Boxing eight years, and in 11 years showed excellent results.
Later, the athlete told me that during his youth the skills of Boxing or wrestling was just a necessary condition. In dashing nineties in all major cities, there was a feud between the blocks, streets and neighborhoods, young people gathered in gangs and groups, and a trivial fight often resulted in a bloody battle. Every young man should have been able to defend himself, Golovkin and Gene was pretty good at that.
The first competition of the regional scale has become crucial for the young boxer. Eleven-year-old Gennady was able to win over their rivals, which at the time was 14-15 years old.
The main difference between Amateur Boxing from professional is reduced (to 8 minutes) time-match, the use of helmet and gloves, and less strict requirements to the soldiers on the part of judges. At this rank Gene Golovkin managed to hold 350 contests, of which 345 fighting has ended in his victory.
Biography of an athlete is full of many champion titles and ranks, and the Amateur period in the career of the boxer is no exception. From 2000 to 2004, Golovkin has received such awards:
- the title of world Champion among juniors;
- gold medal at the Asian games;
- the gold of the world Championships;
- silver at the 2004 Olympic games.

Era of professional sports for Triple G was launched in 2006. He almost immediately became a star of world size, speaking in the middle weight category (weight category up to 72 kg). The first 8 fights boxer finished ahead of schedule, beating many more experienced opponents in the ring.
The following battles have paved the way for the world title, which was first given to the Kazakh athlete in 2010. This was preceded by the following victories:

In 2011, the champion confirmed his title in fights with Kassim Omoi and Lajuana Simon, and in 2012 – sparring with a Japanese Makoto Fuchigami.
Many fans of the Kazakh champion tormented by the question: Gennady Golovkin — left handed or right handed? Now, the boxer-puncher uses a left-side rack, typical for righties, whom he is. However, this does not prevent the Kazakh to send to the knock-out opponents-left-handed, as happened with the pole Grzegorz Proksas.
